The "Maskerade"

The "Maskerade" was a performative and participatory art piece presented on the University of Miami campus on October 30th, 2020. Our aim was to reframe students’ minds on the importance of mask wearing and social distancing through the use of socially engaged art. A stage, music, posters and a few of us dressed in formal clothes with a face mask covering our face and eyes performed by dancing, remembered by citing the names of those who succumbed to COVID-19 and engaged with students passing by. We connected with them and encouraged them to share their voice and how they have been impacted by COVID-19.
